Refinished Dials
Dial is the most important cosmetic feature of a watch (some people even call it "watch face"), however it the most delicate one too. With the time no matter how expencive your watch is, a watch dial becomes dull, looses its original luster, and the paint starts pilling off. The detirioration is even worth afer watcher damage. We remove original settings and the remaining parts of the old Rolex paint. Then we polish dials to give them a mirror-like finish. And finally we apply new paint of top of it.
In some cases refinishing constitutes in simply adding diamonds to a genuine Rolex dial. Only in this case we keep original paint and inscription.
Aftermarket Diamond Settings
Throughout its history Rolex used diamond settings only as a very high premium custom addition to the watch. As a result most of the used Rolex watches today have simple gold or silver-colored dials. We install aftermarket 18k diamond settings on original Rolex dials. Our settings do look exactly like original Rolex-manufactured ones and bring a touch of luxury to any Rolex watches.
Natural Diamonds
At
we use only natural diamonds. The biggest segment of the dial refinishing cost is our labor; therefore, it makes no financial sense to jeopardize our reputation by replacing natural diamonds with synthetic ones. However, if our customer feels a need for an additional piece of mind, we offer an independent
appraisal upon request.
Factory Rolex Dials
We purchase used Rolex dials in bulk and occasionally we do come across authentic Rolex dials in a very good condition. We keep these dials so we can accommodate watch collectors who are looking for authentic untouched Rolex dials with original paint and print. We also offer these dials to our customers for a very acceptable cost.
Mother of Pearl (MOP)
MOP dials are not made entirely from pearl – they are made out of pearl shell fused with original dial surface. This shell is very thin and fragile; please make sure your watchmaker understands it. An improper handling of MOP dial may result in cracks on the surface.
Engravings on the Back of the Dial
New Rolex dials are all coming with "rolex" engraved on the back. But it has not always been a case. In the past Rolex used to engrave "singer", or set of numbers, or nothing at all. Customers who are particular to find the familiar engravings on the back of the dial might be surprised. As we mentioned, Rolex dials have not changed in the last 4 decades and for refinishing projects we use dials from different eras. Additionally, after the job is done, we file the back of each dial to make sure that no diamond setting is left spearing outside of the dial surface – if genuine engraving was not very deep it comes off during this process.
