Rolex fluted bezels are the most common almond Rolex watches. However, they are not all the same. What an average consumer does not realize is that through its history Rolex manufactured fluted bezels for different models from different metals. For instance Rolex 6917 came with stainless steel smooth bezels, stainless steel engine-tuned bezels, and 14k or 18k fluted bezels. Rolex model 69173 (note the number 3 at the end, it stands for yellow gold) was manufactured with either 14k or 18k fluted bezels. 69174 came with 18k white gold bezel. Rolex 69178 (ladies' President) came with only solid 18k gold fluted bezels.
What if you have a stainless steel bezel, but want to upgrade your watch with a gold one? Taking your watch to your local Rolex retailer would not be an option. Purchasing a used one on eBay might be a problem too (due to the latest eBay's practice removing all the parts with "rolex" in the title). What a solution?
